Bud Johnson serves on the Copper Peak Board as the Operator of Copper Peak Readio WCPP-LP 102.1 FM and aids in Communications. He has been involved since the first meet at Copper Peak in 1970 and has been in the board for over 10 years. Bud became involved with Copper Peak because he has a history of ski jumping and rode on the Wolverine Hill. In the mid 1960’s, Earl Minkin and Sam Davey were the leading officers of the club and he attended meetings as Copper Peak was being planned. He accepted the position of Head of Communications when the first meet was being organized and his group of volunteers installed and operated the public address system. He maintained the position of Head of Communication and operated the PA system for every subsequent ski flying meet.

During Bud’s time in the Navy, he was an Electronic Technician and was the managing technician for a local cable company for his working career. Therefore, all of this experience in electronics and his interest in ski jumping made it a natural endeavor to be involved in the success of Copper Peak.
