Northstar Electronics & Appliances opened for business in November of 1996, right next door to our current location of 629 W. Cloverland Dr. Suite # 6, on U.S. Hwy. 2, in Ironwood, MI. Our original store front included TV’s, car stereos, electronic equipment, and cellular phones, all operating out of approximately 800 square feet of floor space.

Within 5 years, we outgrew that location , and had to relocate to a 2500 square foot storefront that was also located on U.S. Hwy. 2 in Ironwood. Our main focus was still Consumer Electronics, car stereos, cellular phones, and TV’s, but we were looking for more ways to serve our community and the surrounding area.

Fast forward another 5 years, and we found ourselves in need of at least double the floor space of our last location. In 2005 we broke ground on our current building location, and constructed what is now known as the Sunnyside Plaza, conveniently located across from the Gogebic County Fairgrounds. This beautiful building was constructed by the Sawdust Bin and sits at the western most gateway into Michigan. There are currently 7 additional business’ located in the Sunnyside Plaza, including the Sawdust Bin, Terri’s Fashion Optical, Edward Jones, Snap Fitness, Expensify, Nicolet Staffing, and The Ironwood VA Clinic.

Northstar now commands almost 7000 square feet of display space, with the addition of major household appliances. We now carry such notable brands as Speed Queen, GE, Maytag, Whirlpool, Kitchenaid, Amana, Bosch, Thor, and Fisher Paykel. Our service department is second to none, and our customer service is exactly what you should expect from a small business. We always go the extra mile for our customers, and strive for your complete satisfaction.
