See Michigan atop Copper Peak’s ski jump Memorial Day weekend

IRONWOOD, MI – Copper Peak will open its popular Adventure Ride Memorial Day weekend.

Located at the ski flying hill in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the unique attraction allows visitors of all ages to rise to the same heights as the athletes who have flown down the hill for years. Opening day is set for May 26.

Copper Peak just hosted the Red Bull 400, another unique event in which racers climbed 40 stories up the ski jump. The Adventure Ride allows visitors to experience the venue in less-strenuous, but equally-breathtaking way.

The Red Bull 400 drew racers to Michigan’s Copper Peak ski-flying jump. But this time, athletes were going uphill.

As part of the experience, riders take Copper Peak’s 800-foot chair lift ride to the crest of the hill, which is a 360-foot copper-bearing volcanic outcrop.

From there, visitors continued to climb via an 18-story elevator which leads to an observation deck. Truly fearless visitors can walk an additional 8 stories to the top starting gate.

“Once at the top, visitors can enjoy the highest, most awe-inspiring, unobstructed vista in the Midwest overlooking over 2,500 square miles, 3 states and even Canada on a clear day,” Copper Peak’s website reads. “The Copper Peak Adventure Ride is an opportunity not to be missed.”

The Copper Peak Adventure Ride will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for adults and $8 for children. All proceeds benefit future projects at Copper Peak.
