M Live: Copper Peak to be resurrected

UPPER PENINSULA — Even after ski flying competitions ceased there in 1994, Copper Peak remained an attraction unto itself in the Upper Peninsula.

The ski ramp, billed as the “largest ski jump on the American continent,” draws more than 10,000 visitors annually who want to catch the view from the 26-story top gate.

Now, plans are in the works to renovate the structure — built in 1969 for slightly more than $1 million — for a September 2017 Federation of International Skiing event.
